Don Cameron

Inducted 2014

There is so much to be said about Don Cameron's 33 years in Toyland. He was the first buyer to place an order for Cabbage Patch 31 years ago. When he retired 4 years ago at the helm of the Walmart Canada toy department he held a 46% share of the toy market in Canada.

He graduated from Ryerson University and went to work in the Woolworth stores in Leamington, Sarnia, Windsor and finally Toronto. After 3-year stints in advertising and buying footwear, he began his 33-year run buying toys ... First at Woolworth, then Woolco, and then 16 years at Walmart.

His philanthropic side is well documented. Even in retirement he is an active supporter of The Teresa Group, Cardiac Kids, Dreams Take Flight, and The Children's Miracle Network.

Don was born and raised in Holbrook Ontario just outside of Woodstock with his wife Nancy. They raised two beautiful daughters, Joanne and Christine, and are proud grandparents of Cameron and Olivia.
